Boom Design Festival – the creative highlight in Bad Homburg

Through my creative work as a designer, Over the years, I have developed a special passion for design and handcrafted artistry. I have already been able to realize this passion in numerous projects – including the Liese und Lotte Design Markets in Bad Nauheim. There, I created a vibrant market where local artists and designers could present their work. These markets were not only a stage for creative minds, but also a place where families and design enthusiasts gathered to be inspired and experience the diversity of artisanal craftsmanship.

In the last few years, I have been successful in taking my experiences from Bad Nauheim to a larger stage: the Boom Design Festival in Bad Homburg. Since 2016, I have co-organized this extraordinary event, which has since evolved into Hesse’s largest design market. This project would not have been possible without the close and trusting collaboration with the Bad Homburg City Marketing team, led by Nina Gerlach. Working with her team has been extremely valuable and has played a crucial role in making the festival what it is today – a creative hotspot and magnet for both designers and visitors alike.

The festival grows and inspires

In 2024, the Boom Design Festival was held for the sixth time and once again attracted exhibitors and visitors from all over Germany and even from abroad. More than 200 designers, emerging labels and well-known brands traveled here to present their handmade products – from vegan leather bags and hand-knitted accessories to unique jewelry and innovative furniture pieces. The food trucks catered to every taste, ranging from Korean street food to luxurious crêpes and Prosecco from a stylish Piaggio.

A creative explosion – from Louisenstraße to the Kurhaus

Every year, the festival transforms Louisenstraße, the Kurhaus, and the Louisen Arkaden into a lively promenade filled with music, street art, and culinary delights. Street musicians, graffiti artists, and a diverse children’s program provide entertainment, while design enthusiasts explore the exhibitors’ stands. Inside the Kurhaus, creative networks, cozy coffee corners, and numerous creative workshops invite visitors to linger and enjoy the experience.

From the Liese und Lotte market to the Boom Design Festival

My role at the Boom Design Festival goes far beyond mere organization. Following the success of the Liese und Lotte Markets in Bad Nauheim, I was determined to elevate the creative potential to a new level. What once began as a smaller design market has evolved in Bad Homburg into an event that draws over 12,000 visitors over two days. For me, several key elements are especially important at Boom: the focus on handcrafted, high-quality products, an eye for detail, and close collaboration with the exhibitors.

An experience for the whole family

Just as with the Liese und Lotte Markets, the experience for the entire family is a key focus at the Boom Design Festival. While parents browse the stands, children can participate in creative workshops or unleash their artistic side in the Louisen Arkaden. The festival is more than just a market – it’s a creative oasis that invites you to linger, discover, and enjoy.

An event that keeps booming

It fills me with pride to see how the Boom Design Festival has evolved into one of the most significant events of its kind. Year after year, we introduce fresh ideas, attract new exhibitors, and organize exciting programs that transform Bad Homburg into a hub of creativity and joy for two days. For me, the festival is not just a professional challenge—it’s a heartfelt endeavor, a place where art, design, and people come together to spark new inspirations. The fantastic collaboration with the city’s marketing team, led by Nina Gerlach, is invaluable. Without this close cooperation, realizing the festival on such a scale and with this quality would have been impossible.

2024 was once again a resounding success, and we are already looking forward to the next Boom Design Festival 2025, when Bad Homburg will once again be transformed into the creative Boom!Town for two days.
